The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is pleased to announce Jason Castillo as its new policy specialist. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, Castillo joins the foundation after working as the research and policy coordinator at Texas Climate Jobs Project. He was also a staffer for Senator Royce West during the 2021 legislative session.
In his role at the Hogg Foundation, Jason will participate in the foundation’s efforts to influence systems change that improves the mental health and well-being within all Texas communities through policy education initiatives, grantmaking activities, collaboration, and dialogue.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as policy specialist at the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health,” says Jason. “And I’m looking forward to supporting the policy team as we work to inform state-level policies that include funding and support for mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention.”
The policy team is excited to have Jason join its ranks before the 89th Texas legislative session commences. “Jason brings a wealth of policy and legislative experience to our team,” said Alison Mohr Boleware, director of policy at the Hogg Foundation. “We are ready to educate legislators, their staff, and advocates on what pressing mental health policy issues are top priority for Texas communities.”
