The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is seeking two new members for its National Advisory Council (NAC). The NAC is an advisory body that supports the work of the foundation. NAC members have expertise in fields related to the Hogg Foundation’s mission including psychiatry, community health, peer support, social work, sociology, philanthropy, public policy, and law. NAC also includes people with lived mental health experience. Appointed by the foundation’s executive director, council members serve staggered five-year terms and meet annually. Members receive a monetary honorarium in appreciation of their time and expertise.
The foundation’s current need is for young adults leaders in mental health. Eligible individuals should meet the following criteria:
- Individuals ages 18-26 who reside outside of Texas
- Individuals who bring lived experience or perspectives related to mental health, trauma, or recovery, either personally, through family members, or through close community engagement
- Individuals engaged in their communities through advocacy, education, service, research, peer support, or other related efforts
- Individuals interested in conversations related to mental health, systems change, policy, and community well-being
- Thoughtful, community-minded individuals committed to collaboration and meaningful dialogue
- Individuals who are able to serve a five-year term and participate in at least one annual in-person NAC meeting (travel supported by the foundation)
- Individuals who are able to join occasional virtual meetings or conference calls on specific strategic issues
Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and resume/CV to hogg-ed@austin.utexas.edu. The deadline for submissions is Sep. 28, 2026. To avoid conflicts of interest, eligibility is restricted to non-Texas applicants.
