The following opportunity has been shared on behalf of a member or affiliate of the Austin Area African American Behavioral Health Network (4ABHN).
The Mental Health Counseling Program at the Seminary of the Southwest is pleased to offer a free online 1 hr CEU workshop entitled Spirituality and Ethics: Applications to Counseling Practice taught by Dr. Awa Jangha, LPC, ATR-BC and Dr. Gena Minnix, LPC-S, LMFT-S.
This presentation explores ways in which spirituality can ethically be addressed in clinical practice. With Texas having such a large spiritual and religious population, we recognize that a part of providing holistic counseling involves being able to address matters of spirituality. This presentation: a) reviews definitions of spirituality and religion, b) provides an at-home experiential of creating your own spiritual lifemap, and c) reviews an ethical decision making model (with an accompanying case study) to help clinicians and students learn how to ethically navigate various spiritual nuances which may manifest within session or supervision.
Counselors, site supervisors, alumni, and fellow members of our Austin mental health community are encouraged to click the link to watch the video.
After watching the video, complete the attached questionnaire and workshop evaluation, and email to christine.anderson@ssw.edu to receive CEU credit.
The window to complete this CEU training will remain open until August 31, 2019.
