With the support of a Hogg Foundation grant to promote mental health awareness through the visual arts, students and teachers at Austin Independent School District’s (AISD) McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy created “Mosaic of Minds,” a large-scale, outdoor art installation highlighting the diverse experiences and “many faces” of mental health.

A public unveiling ceremony at the AISD Performing Arts Center introduced the work of ceramic sculpture and glass mosaic to the wider community. Speakers included Dr. LaShanda Lewis, executive director of AISD Student Support Services; Fernando Lucas de Urioste, AISD Board of Trustees; Dr. Octavio N. Martinez, Jr., executive director of the Hogg Foundation; and AISD student artists.

Special thanks to art educators Carey West and Abby Burnham for guiding the students through this project.
