The following opportunity has been shared on behalf of a member or affiliate of the Austin Area African American Behavioral Health Network.
The Equity Office, in partnership with the Office of Police Oversight and Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities, are hosting a townhall that will amplify the voices of People with Disabilities to share their experience with public safety in Austin.
The event will be held virtually December 2, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:30pm. The Save the Date graphic is attached. Participants can RSVP at this link.
We believe this will be the first City event specifically centering the experience, and so it’s critical we get a large and diverse attendance, as I don’t have to tell you this community covers so many intersections and experiences of oppression. This is also being envisioned as a series of events, so the input we receive at this first step will be fundamental to informing the planning and direction of engagement in the future.
