Co-founded by a visionary Texan woman and mental health advocate, Ima Hogg, the Hogg Foundation is especially pleased to celebrate her work during Women’s History Month. For more than 80 years, we’ve funded many innovative initiatives to carry forward Miss Ima’s passion for promoting mental health.
The Music Therapy Program at Texas Woman’s University, which ran from 1958-1961, is a perfect example. This Hogg initiative provided the salary of Geneva Scheihing, enabling her to teach a course in music therapy, assist in setting up a clinical practice for music therapy at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, and engage in additional research.
