The grueling 82nd Texas legislative session came to a close earlier this summer and Hogg Foundation policy staff was there for both regular and special sessions, working to inform legislators and advocacy groups of the impacts of proposals relating to mental health. The foundation’s legislative summary outlines new legislation and funding changes that will significantly impact mental health in Texas. Included in the summary are detailed explanations of mental health budget riders, new outpatient competency restoration rules for criminal defendants, and an overview of new telehealth reimbursement criteria.
