We are excited to tell you about a unique event coming to Austin in September. The two-day event, “A Beautiful Partnership,” is a benefit celebrating the life and commitment of Alicia Nash, wife and partner to Nobel Prize-winning mathematician John Nash. John’s life was famously depicted in the movie “A Beautiful Mind.” The Hogg Foundation’s Executive Director Dr. Octavio N. Martinez, Jr., is proud to serve as a co-chair of the event along with Dr. Jerry R. Grammer and Honorary Event Chair Kathy Cronkite.
The first day of the event, September 14, will feature breakout sessions on a variety of topics, including the Caregiver’s Role in Mental Health Recovery, Mobilizing Community Support for Mental Health, Current Scientific Knowledge Regarding Mental Illness, My Road to Recovery and The SAMHSA Wellness Model. Additionally, a keynote luncheon will feature an interview of Alicia Nash by Bob Lively. On September 16, there will be a screening of “A Beautiful Mind” with Alicia and John Nash in attendance.
The event is hosted by Planned Living Assistance Network (PLAN) of Central Texas and sponsored by NAMI Texas, Mental Health America of Texas, The University of Texas at Austin Department of Psychology and The Hope Concept.
Mental health consumers, caregivers, educators and peer specialists are all invited to attend. Check out the website to view the agenda and register for the event.
