Here’s a snapshot of the presentations made, events hosted, and honors received by the talented and dedicated staff of the Hogg Foundation during the month of January 2026.
Amy Loar, administrator of the Texas Grants Resource Center, participated in a Community–of-Practice panel discussion entitled Grants to Power Career and Technical Education. Hosted by the Advanced Manufacturing Technical Education Collaborative’s (AMTEC) Institute for Industry 4.0 Innovation, the discussion was designed to help career and technical education instructors discover grant opportunities.
In his capacity as an adjunct faculty member of the UT School of Social Work, Jason Castillo, policy program specialist, began teaching a graduate level course entitled Social Welfare Programs, Policies, and Issues. The course explores social welfare programs and policy issues to understand the relationship between social policy and social work practice.
Vicky Coffee, director of foundation initiatives, led a training on the importance of self-care for those working with youth and families for the Advise TX College Advising Corps at the University of Texas at Austin. Advise TX places recent college graduates as full-time college advisers in Title One high schools in five regions of Texas. Advise TX provides the support that students in Title One high schools require to navigate the complex processes of college admissions, matriculation, and financial aid.
