The following opportunity has been shared on behalf of a member or affiliate of the Austin Area African American Behavioral Health Network (4ABHN).

Perinatal Mental Health Conference

I am the Clinical Director for The Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas (PPHA). The Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas (PPHA) is a non-profit dedicated to ensuring that all families in the greater Austin area receive the support they need during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period and the transition to parenthood.

We have a provider directory that lists therapists in the area who are specialists in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD’s). We would love to have more therapists of color represented on our directory as we know how important this is for people of color seeking mental health services. We would like to extend an offer to any member of the A4BHN group for a yearlong listing on our directory at no cost. In addition to being on our provider directory, you will be included on our listserv and invited to attend our monthly consultation group in which we discuss all things perinatal mental health related.

If you already have training in PMAD’s, we encourage you to join now. If you do not have training in PMAD’s and would like to learn more, there is a Perinatal Mental Health and Wellness Conference coming up in April and this will get you the training you need to join our directory. If you cannot attend the pre-conference or conference, have no fear as PPHA offers trainings throughout the year to get as many people educated about perinatal mental health. We believe in the importance of reducing the shame around difficulties transitioning to parenthood so no one has to suffer in silence. Thank you for your time, I look forward to reviewing your applications.

Please mention in your email that you learned about PPHA through 4ABHN.
