Hi all,

We currently have a vacant grant (VOCA) funded temporary position.

The person in this position will work mostly Monday – Friday during the day and will likely work a variety of case types (Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Deaths, Harassment, etc.) as a follow-up counselor, providing criminal justice support, short-term/crisis counseling, and advocacy. They will also be available to assist any other investigative unit and/or Crisis Team as needed. Other investigative units include Family Violence, Sex Crimes, Child Abuse, Human Trafficking, Vehicular Homicide and more. Crisis Team counselors respond to the scene of crime and crisis circumstances as requested by patrol officers.

This position will primarily be housed at the APD Main Headquarters (715 E. 8th St.), sharing an office with a counselor in the Homicide unit.  If you know of anyone that might be interested, please have them call me for more information (512-974-5387).

The minimum qualifications are the same as a full-time position (Master’s degree in the mental health field and 2 years of crisis/trauma experience). Pay is set at $27.00/hour as it is grant funded. There is not a formal application and interview process for temporary positions. Feel free to share this with other groups/organizations.
