Our theme for our inaugural Austin VA Community Summit is:

#BeThereAustin – Joining Together to Enhance the Lives of Our

Veterans, Service Members, and Their Families

The purpose of the Summit is to encourage increased collaboration and coordination between the VA and its community partners; to promote awareness of and access to both VA and community resources and services; and to engage in active dialogue for creating new opportunities of support.

It Takes a Team! Everyone Has a Role!

We need your participation, expertise, and ideas to ensure that our Veterans, service members, and their families have a strong and expanded network of support within our community.

To this end, the Central Texas VA Health Care System is partnering with the Austin Mayor’s Office and reaching out to public and private community members in health care and related services; Veteran and military organizations; corporations; local businesses; artists; social organizations; faith groups; educators; and more – all those who are present in the everyday lives of our Veterans – where they live, work, play, and learn.

In the morning, Mayor Adler will be giving a special address regarding the vision for the Mayor’s Challenge to Prevent Veteran Suicide, immediately followed by guided small group discussions to develop concrete steps to move toward this vision and increased outreach.

During the afternoon, VA leadership will provide updates on key VA services including the new MISSION ACT. We will also offer sessions covering various relevant topics including:

  • PTSD & Moral Injury
  • Whole Health & Resiliency
  • Family Relationships
  • Military Culture
  • Holistic Approaches to Chronic Pain Management
  • Social Media and Ethics

The Summit is FREE. Lunch will be provided.

We are providing tables for those wishing to bring materials and information about their programs/services.

A table can be requested on the RSVP link.
