Presentation and roundtable discussion with other behavioral health professionals on the challenges and resources for achieving optimal mental health. African Americans have a strong connection to a higher power and believe faith is the answer to many of life’s challenges. Spirituality can play a key role in the recovery and healing of individuals who experience mental illness and their loved ones. We will explore how to bring together faith-based communities with mental health professionals, consumers and family members in an effort to strengthen the mind, body and soul of individuals living with mental illness in our community.

Roundtable discussion with other behavioral health professionals on the challenges and resources for achieving optimal mental health in children. Serious emotional disturbances can severely disrupt the daily lives of children and youth at home, in school, or in the community. Families, schools, and communities must work together to raise children and youth to become mentally and physically healthy adults. Equally important is the availability of resources and supports in the community.
